Trustees support the county’s mission by overseeing the effective administration of the museum and participating in board meetings. In addition, trustees volunteer on one or more committees—such as Finance/Budget, Marketing/PR, or Collections—to support major projects and advance the museum’s mission.

Our Mission
The mission of the Jefferson County Museum is to collect, preserve & share the historically & culturally significant heritage pertinent to Jefferson County.

A Colorful Legacy
Built in 1898, the Old Red Schoolhouse welcomed its first class in 1899 and served the Clancy community for generations. After the school closed, the building was restored and reopened as the Jefferson County Museum in 2000. The museum exists today thanks to decades of volunteer dedication, with special recognition to Sherry Carlson, who has served continuously as a trustee since the museum opened.
