~INVENTORY~
Progress Report - (January 2020)In 2019, the museum staff and several volunteers completed inventory of most artifacts and documents (including maps) in our collection.
This massive project hasn't been undertaken for about 15 years—and very little information was available in an electronic format. To embark on this project, it was necessary to close down the museum for several months. We appreciate the patience of our patrons!
Inventory generally involved gathering and recording a wide array of information about each item. The details were then input into a museum-specific computer software program (PastPerfect). Ongoing efforts to finalize the inventory details continue. We're working to ensure each individual item has its own designated inventory number and is labeled as such. (*For instance, while we have approximately 3,000 individual documents in our collection, groups of related documents have been inventoried together. Thus, the estimate for the number of documents is noted in the chart above.) This process included ensuring each item is properly preserved in archival-quality storage containers, so they will be available for future generations to appreciate. Special Thanks to Volunteers for Inventory Assistance Without the substantial help (and time) of the following volunteers, inventory couldn't have been completed: Karole Lee, Sherry Carlson & Jamie Guenther. Kudos to museum staff, for learning the PastPerfect software and so carefully inputting the info!
